How to Convert Your Lovable Product into an Android and iOS App
November 6, 2026 · 5 min read
Your Lovable product already has the most important ingredient: a working experience. Turning it into an Android or iOS app starts with preparing that experience for phones, then packaging it into a build that people can install. You do not need to redesign your product from scratch, but a published website alone is not a ready-to-upload mobile project.
Start with the product, not the wrapper
Publish your Lovable project and test the production version on a real phone. Complete the same journey a customer would: create an account, sign in, use the main feature and return later. Fix broken links, cramped forms and loading failures before creating a mobile build. Packaging an app does not repair problems in the original product.
Keep the production address stable and served over HTTPS. If your mobile project loads the hosted product, that website and its backend must remain available. A mobile build does not move your server functions or database onto the phone.
Prepare a buildable mobile source project
A mobile runtime such as Capacitor can provide Android and iOS projects around a web experience. Preparing those platform projects is separate from compiling the final app. Review your Lovable export with a developer or ask Lovable to help prepare the required mobile configuration, then verify the result with the relevant mobile tools.
For a server-rendered product, do not assume the website's build output is a standalone folder that can run offline. Choose a supported hosted-web configuration or create a genuine client-only mobile frontend. Your existing server features still need a deployed backend.
- Use a permanent application identifier and a consistent app name.
- Include the platform project and configuration needed to compile it.
- Exclude repository history, dependency folders and unrelated files from the source ZIP.
- Never bundle private server keys in the mobile app. Supply signing files only through the designated signing controls.
Choose your platform and output
| Target | Build output | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Android device testing | APK | Install on a test Android device |
| Google Play | AAB | Upload to a Play Console testing track |
| iPhone distribution | IPA | Use the appropriate Apple distribution workflow |
In the PWAtoApp dashboard, select Android or iOS, upload your prepared source ZIP and configure signing. Android lets you choose APK or AAB; each submission creates only the format you select. Wait for the current build to finish before starting another. Progress and live logs help you see whether compilation succeeds or needs attention.
Understand signing and store requirements
Android release builds need a signing identity. iOS builds require your Apple Distribution certificate, its password and a matching App Store provisioning profile, as well as an available Mac build worker. Keep identifiers and signing credentials consistent across releases.
Test before you launch
Check the installed app on real devices, not only in the Lovable preview. Test sign-in, navigation, file uploads, permissions and poor connectivity. Then prepare your store listing and privacy disclosures. A successful build is a useful milestone, but a reliable customer experience is what makes the release ready.
